Fairy Tail

Acnologia, also known as The Black Dragon, and fearsomely reputed as The Black Dragon in the Book of Apocalypse and the Herald of New Ages, is a cataclysmically powerful Dragon Slayer that can take the form of a Dragon, that assaulted the Fairy Tail core Mages on Tenrou Island in the Year X784.

Fairy Tail is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. It was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from August 2006 to July 2017, with the individual chapters collected and published into 63 tankōbon volumes. The story follows the adventures of Natsu Dragneel, a member of the popular wizard guild Fairy Tail, as he searches the fictional world of Earth-land for the dragon Igneel.

Acnologia is one of the series' overarching antagonists, known as the "Dragon King" for driving the dragon race to near extinction in Earth-land's historic Dragon King Festival [ch. 301] Originally a human Dragon Slayer who resents dragons for slaughtering his family and other innocents,[ch. 543] he transforms into an immortal black dragon as a side effect of his magic;[ch. 301] despite this, he is capable of alternating between his human and "dragonified" forms at will.[ch. 436] Acnologia possesses no elemental Dragon Slayer trait, which grants him immunity to all forms of magic.[ch. 528] Overtaken by bloodlust and considering himself to be invincible, he gains notoriety for the next four centuries as a harbinger of destruction who disregards all life,[ch. 252] speaking only to those he acknowledges as his enemies.[ch. 405] After nearly obliterating Sirius Island following Fairy Tail's battle with Grimoire Heart,[ch. 253] and later losing an arm in a battle with Igneel that results in the latter's death,[ch. 414] Acnologia participates in the war between Ishgal and the Alvarez Empire, aiming to achieve the complete extinction of dragons by killing the surviving Dragon Slayers.[ch. 470] When he is lured by Blue Pegasus and Anna Heartfilia into a "space between time", a void dimension in which they attempt to permanently trap him,[ch. 530] Acnologia eats his way out and attains godlike power; this act also separates his human soul from his physical dragon body, which ravages Earth-land while the former imprisons the other Dragon Slayers in the void with himself to maintain his power.[ch. 540] After Lucy Heartfilia seals his body within Fairy Sphere, Natsu Dragneel kills him by destroying his immobilized soul.[ch. 544] Mashima regretted not giving more time to develop the character in the manga, envisioning a "deeper setting" that he felt unable to include from the protagonists' perspective, which he hoped he would have the opportunity to explore "at some point".

Angel

Cordelia was a male dragon that befriended Angel during the Fall of Los Angeles. Angel is an American television series, a spinoff of the supernatural drama series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The series was created by Buffy's creator, writer and director Joss Whedon, in collaboration with David Greenwalt. It aired on The WB from October 1999, to May 2004, consisting of five seasons and 110 episodes.

The dragon Cordelia was part of the demon army sent by the Senior Partners to kill Team Angel after the slaughter of the Circle of the Black Thorn in 2004. After Los Angeles was transported to a hell dimension, the dragon discovered Angel, badly wounded and then human, and carried him to the ruins of the Wolfram & Hart Los Angeles branch. While going through neo-primitive rituals to heal his injuries, Angel dealt with the pain by speaking to an imaginary Cordelia Chase, so the dragon assumed Angel was talking to him and that Cordelia was his name.

Cordelia's most notable fight was a direct confrontation with Illyria, with the dragon seeming to have the upper hand against the unbalanced and still relatively weak Old One, although she seemed unimpressed by the battle herself. He also followed Angel to Silver Lake and flew over the area while Lorne and Angel talked.

As Angel readied for his battle against the Demon Lords' champions, Cordelia airlifted him to the arena. In order to prevent him from interfering, Cordelia was pinned to the ground by chains. But, when Team Angel returned, the Groosalugg broke the chains and the dragon tackled the demon Kenny.

After Gwen Raiden betrayed Angel's group, she blasted Cordelia, knocking the dragon into the sea. As she tried to convince Connor to back down, however, an enraged Cordelia returned, seemingly uninjured, and loomed over Gwen. The battle between them continued until the Senior Partners' larger army of many more dragons descended upon the scene, snatching Cordelia in their talons and teeth. Cordelia was later seen lying dead on the streets of Los Angeles.

Cordelia was restored to life with the Senior Partners' intervention when they reverted time back to the battle following the elimination of the Circle of the Black Thorn. In the battle in the new timeline, Cordelia and Illyria quickly slew the demon army with some help from Spike and Angel. Cordelia then transported the team to Wolfram & Hart and then to the hospital to save Gunn's life. However, Angel left Cordelia in the Groosalugg's care in order to allow himself to more effectively operate undercover, without the publicity he would otherwise attract following his rescue of the entirety of Los Angeles.

Fafnir himself was left to die in the ruined wasteland that was his former kingdom. However, he found a pool with magical properties, and while drinking from the pool, it transformed him into a massive dragon. Fafnir now possessed strength on par with the Thunder God Thor; a devastating flame breath; the ability to cast illusions and control weak-minded individuals. Fafnir was now almost invulnerable, as his dragon hide was so dense that he barely felt blows from Thor's hammer Mjolnir. It was said that the pool had been formed from the blood of Fafnir Hriedmarson, a Vanir turned into a dragon due to a gold-curse.

Despite these tremendous abilities, Fafnir was never able to defeat Thor. On the first occasion that Fafnir battled Thor, he was sent hurtling into a deep chasm created by a blow from the Thunder God.Before his next encounter with Thor he faced Warriors Three who he seemingly defeated until the Young Gods showed up and rescued them. On the second occasion he fought Thor, Loki freed and assisted Fafnir against Thor but both were held at bay by the combined might of Mjolnir and the magical Nornstones until the intervention of Odin. On the next occasion, Fafnir was killed by Thor when he used Mjolnir to drive an enchanted spear into Fafnir's heart. Later, Fafnir was one of the resurrected villains released from Hel and used by Kurse to defeat Thor, however they all were stopped by Hela who transported all the villians back to Hel.

Many years later after the invasion of Asgard by Norman Osborn. Thor, Captain America (Steve Rogers) and Iron Man (Anthony "Tony" Stark) met Fafnir in the Nine Realms turned in Hel and after attempting to torture Tony in order to hurt Thor, he joined up with them in order to defeat Hela who wielded the Twilight Sword and restore balance to the Nine Realms, and as a result he was returned to Hel.

Bone

Bone is an American independently-published graphic novel series, written and illustrated by Jeff Smith, originally serialized in 55 irregularly released issues from 1991 to 2004. The series was published every other month with some delays from June 1991 to June 2004. The series was self-published by Smith's Cartoon Books for issues #1-20, by Image Comics from issues #21-27, and back to Cartoon Books for issues #28-55.

Smith's black-and-white drawings, inspired by animated cartoons and comic strips, are singularly characterized by a mixture of both light-hearted comedy and dark fantasy thriller. The author, Jeff Smith, describes the comics as "a fish-out-of-water story. There are three modern characters who happen to be cartoons in the mold of Donald Duck or Bugs Bunny, and get lost in a fairy-tale valley. They spend a year there and make friends and enemies, finding themselves caught up in the trials and tribulations of the valley, and even a war".

The son of the great dragon Mim, The Great Red Dragon is often Fone Bone's last-minute savior. The Red Dragon appears when he is most needed. Gran'ma Ben does not trust him, regardless of how many times he has saved her or her friends from harm. The Great Red Dragon seems to be incredibly ancient. In a sequence that shows the land during the Dragons' reign, supposedly the beginning of time, the Great Red Dragon can be seen fighting Mim along with other dragons. As said in the prequel Stupid, Stupid Rat Tails, he is Mim's son and he was part of the group that trapped her in stone when the Valley was made. He took care of Thorn during the Great War while Rose searched for a place for them to hide. He is also seen at the end of Stupid, Stupid Rat Tails during the time of Boneville's founding by Big Johnson Bone. Fone Bone indicates that he has a baritone voice.

The dragon itself does not appear to have a name, beyond "The Great Red Dragon". If he has one, it is unknown to anyone but himself.

He can breathe extremely intense fire and is a surprisingly formidable combatant for his size, having once destroyed a nest of Sidri hatchlings and at another time bested a fully armored medieval knight-in-training. The Brood that he confronted upon his first appearance were terrified and immediately fled upon seeing him. His brain is immune to telepathic probing by telepaths such as Professor X. Angel Sanctuary made cultural references to various mythologies, including Greek and Norse, as well as to real-world people, music, literature, and places.

NidHegg was a scientist alongside Lailah & Anael. He fell in love with Lailah; and his love for her never wavered, even when she accused him of being one of her rapists. He has his wings cut off, and when Uriel flees to hell, he takes pity on NidHegg and fashions him a body like that of a dragon to ferry him around Hades. He asks Setsuna to find Lailah and give her one of his scales, as well as the message that he forgives her for what she did to him because he always loved her. (The scale later changed into a musical box of sorts, with Lailah's beautiful voice recorded as she sings). Shenron's Namekian (see Shenron below) counterpart is Porunga (Namekian for "God of Dreams").[ch. 292] Porunga has a large, muscular humanoid upper body and a dorsal fin down his back; the Dragon Balls are larger than Earth's. Unlike Shenron, he can only bring a single person back to life at a time, but he can bring that person back multiple times whereas Shenron cannot.[ch. 292, 327] He can also grant three wishes instead of one, and the user must speak in the Namekian language.[ch. 292] Porunga and the Namekian Dragon Balls were created by the planet's Great Elder, who kept one ball and gave each of the other six to a different elder.[ch. 252, 260] When the Namekian Dragon Balls are used in the fight with Majin Buu, Porunga is upgraded, and can wish back multiple people at once and still grant three wishes.

After the wish is granted the balls scatter across the planet, turn to stone, are useless for a year, and cannot be detected by Bulma's Dragon Radar.[ch. 1, 20] The Dragon Balls also become useless if Shenron is destroyed; in this case, they must be recreated by their creator. If their creator is killed, the Dragon Balls will also become inert until another creator is able to revive Shenron.[ch. 148, 165, 194] Shenron cannot bestow a wish that exceeds the power of his creator, such as Shenron being unable to destroy the Saiyans before they came to earth.[ch. 243] Midway through the series, the Dragon Balls are revealed to have been created by the Namekians, Earth's Kami being one of them.[ch. 242] A person can only be brought back to life once, and only if that person did not die of natural causes.[ch. 218, 321] Earth is without Dragon Balls for a period when Kami re-merges with Piccolo until Dende takes over the position of God.[ch. 355, 360, 393] When Dende recreates Earth's Dragon Balls, he makes it so that two wishes can be made at once, but each wish is still capable of resurrecting multiple individuals immediately.[ch. 394] Shenron is voiced by Kenji Utsumi in the Japanese version of the series until his death in 2013 with the exclusion of episodes 192 and 193 in the series and the films, in which he is voiced by Masaharu Satō; Kōji Yada in the Dr. Slump remake; and Ryūzaburō Ōtomo since episode 97 of Kai. In the English versions of the series, he is voiced by Don Brown in the Ocean dub, and by Christopher Sabat in the Funimation dub.

Iron Fist

Shou-Lao (alternatively spelled Shao-Lao) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Shou-Lao first appeared in 1974's Marvel Premiere #16 and was created by Len Wein, Roy Thomas, and Larry Hama.

Shou-Lao is an immortal Chinese dragon who became the source of power in K'un-L'un. During a performance of the dragon riders of K'un-Lun for the entertainment of its Yu-Ti, Shou-Lao went berserk and attacked the city's leader. He was slain by Quan-St'ar who cut out the dragon's heart. Enraged at this, Yu-Ti banished Quan-St'ar from the city and revived Shou-Lao by melting his heart and placing it in a sacred cavern. Following this incident, those who became Iron Fist had to accomplish the final test of defeating Shou-Lao in order to absorb part of his power. This was done over 66 times.

After she was busted for training three cavemen, Fan Fei was chained up and watched as the cavemen were fed to Shou-Lou by Lei Kung. When she broke out with the hope that she will die fighting Shou-Lou, Fan Fei punched Shou-Lou in his chest tattoo and gained his powers.

When Danny Rand was becoming the next Iron Fist, he defeated Shou-Lao by burning the dragon-shaped tattoo off his chest. After defeating Shou-Lao, Danny Rand plunged his hands into the brazier containing Shou-Lao's immortal heart and it charged him with the power of the Iron Fist.

Steel Serpent later attempted to fight Shou-Lao. When Steel Serpent failed to defeat Shou-Lao, Lei Kung found him weeping in the snow. He then took Steel Serpent back to the city.

During the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline, the X-Men fought the Avengers in K'un-L'un when Hope Summers and Lei-Kung arrive on the back of Shou-Lao who blasted the Phoenix Force-empowered Cyclops. Unfortunately, Shou-Lao was far too young to put up a fight and its riders were dislodged. However, Hope was able to unleash a combination of dragon energy, fire, and chaos magic to banish Cyclops to the Moon.

Shou-Lao has dragon abilities, such as being able to breathe fire and strike at lightning-fast speeds. In addition, he is immune to disease.

Skiadrum, like other Dragons, is a gargantuan quadrupedal beast, however unlike most other Dragons, he is covered in pitch-black scales; atop his head, Skiadrum has two sharp horns and sports a small, pointed beard of shadows on his chin. Skiadrum has no visible pupils, and his eyes instead bare a great resemblance to Gajeel Redfox's own when the man enters Iron Shadow Dragon Mode. Between his horns and running down his spine, Skiadrum has a mane of shadows; his wings are covered in the same material. Because of the shadows his body is composed of, Skiadrum has a constant stream of shadows being emitted from his head, wings, spine and tail.

Weisslogia was a Dragon known as The White Dragon and was the foster father of Sting Eucliffe. Weisslogia is a light-colored, gigantic, bearded Dragon with feathery, angel-esque wings, and has two comparably small antlers protruding from the top of his head. Weisslogia's underbelly is quite smooth, while the majority of his body, save for part of his feathery, windswept face, and his spine (which is adorned with a trail of hair that starts from his head), is covered with thick scales. Weisslogia was a very selfless Dragon, having taken in and raised a young Sting Eucliffe like he was his own son. Furthermore, Weisslogia opted to forfeit his own life solely for Sting's future growth. However, upon revealing that the latter fact was a lie to keep Sting unaware of where he had gone, Weisslogia still kept in line with his supposed caring persona, as he disappeared and rewrote Sting's memories to prevent him from turning into a Dragon.

Wormy

Wormy

Wormy, drawn and written by David A. Trampier (1954-2014), was a fantasy comic strip about a talking dragon named Wormy. The strip was originally serialized in the role-playing magazine Dragon.

The September 1977 issue of Dragon (Issue #9) featured the first 6-panel comic of Wormy. The first comic featured the title character, a cigar-chomping, pool hustling, wargaming dragon, and subsequent issues revealed the cast of goblins and ogres who were his neighbors and friends. Wormy continued to appear in Dragon for the next 10 years, until Issue #132 (April 1988).

In the late 1980s, Wormy creator David A. Trampier abruptly vanished from public life. The final installment of Wormy ended the strip in the middle of an unfinished storyline. No further Wormy comics were ever published.
